I had the wonderful pleasure of meeting Mei-Lan and her family for a Mother’s Day photo shoot. Mei-Lan lives in California and comes to visit her parents here in Colorado once or twice a year. She wanted to give her mother a gift that would last and decided to arrange a family portrait session. Mei-Lan reached out to me way back in February and told me that she’d be in Colorado for Mother’s Day. I of course felt honored that she chose me for such a special occasion. Her parents are aging and it was extremely important to her that she have photos of her parents with their only grandchild, Simone.
Since Mei-Lan would only be here for a few days, we were counting on good weather! Colorado can be very tricky in the spring and you never know what you will get in May. It could be nearing 90 degrees or a blizzard could hit… and that’s been known to happen in a 24 hour period! So the fact that we got a beautiful, 70 degree morning was serendipitous. The flowers and trees were in full bloom, the air smelled amazing and it made for a perfect photo shoot. What’s even more perfect is that it began to rain the moment we drove away from the park... it was all meant to be I suppose!
I had a blast chasing around the youngest member of the family. Little miss Simone was full of sugar and spice and I just loved her! I think if they lived closer I’d want to set up play-dates because I could totally see her and my oldest daughter, Lydia, playing princesses together! She definitely stole the show but it’s worth mentioning that Mei-Lan’s parents are also ridiculously adorable! They have been married for 56 years. Such an inspiration to all of us young people.
The gift of family pictures is so unique and something that everyone can really treasure for years to come. Mei-Lan was so thoughtful to arrange such a nice gift for her mama this year and I feel extremely honored to have captured these moments for them. It is a blessing to share these photos with you! Enjoy!
